I am a Web developer/Graphic designer serving the Greater Detroit area. I build web sites and update web sites, create print, POP and motion graphics. I have many years experience producing print materials both digital and offset, and have successfully designed everything from business cards to billboards. When creating web sites I endeavor to adhere to web standards. Adhering to web standards has several advantages. Conversion from table-based design to standards-oriented design can reduce page weight by 50% or more! Speeding up your site's response time, It also improves accessibility, allows for better Search engine optimization and makes maintenance easier. Building a better web site more effectively conveys your message.
Sometimes some flash content is called for as it can do things nothing else can, for one it is very good at delivering video. It is also great for insuring that content appears the same across all platforms, especially if your sites layout is not conventional. It is a technology that can really help your site stand out. Animation always gets attention, and flash has the lowest bandwidth overhead for doing animation. Adding interactivity with javascript is another great way to get visitors more involved with your site.
Some people seem to confuse design with decoration. Design is about communication, the web is about getting you message across to your customers. You can reach more customers with fewer dollars with the web than by any other medium.
